Generación Mediterránea completed its comprehensive financial reorganization
Generación Mediterránea, the company that concentrates Grupo Albanesi's power generation business, announced the successful completion of its comprehensive financial reorganization. Through this process, the company adjusted its payment terms to its actual capacity to pay, putting an end to a situation that began in April 2025 as a result of a combination of external and internal factors. Its 10 power plants, located in 7 provinces (2 in Buenos Aires, 2 in Santa Fe, Córdoba, Río Negro, La Rioja, Tucumán and Santiago del Estero), with an installed capacity of 1,855 MW, account for almost 8% of the country's thermal power.
Scope of the restructuring
The reorganization involved proposals with no principal haircuts, on total liabilities of nearly USD 1.5 billion, in the domestic and international capital markets.
Operational continuity and strategic investments
Throughout the process, Generación Mediterránea ensured the uninterrupted operation of its 10 power plants at maximum dispatch availability. To that end, it agreed with strategic suppliers on the continuity of maintenance and the supply of spare parts, aligning intervention plans with the level of activity.
Within this framework, the company adopted measures aimed at preserving operational continuity and completing critical investments of USD 600 million. These include the commissioning of the Arroyo Seco Cogeneration Thermal Power Plant (Santa Fe) and the expansion of the Ezeiza (Buenos Aires) and Modesto Maranzana (Córdoba) plants.
In September 2025, the company signed the first contract under Resolution 21/25 of the National Energy Secretariat to supply power to Louis Dreyfus Company in Timbúes, Santa Fe, consolidating its position in the national energy market. The company reaffirms its commitment to a highly efficient operation, contributing to the country's productive development by supplying power produced with state-of-the-art technology.
