Central Térmica Riojana
La Rioja, La Rioja · 90 MW installed
The Riojana Thermal Power Plant is located in the city of La Rioja, capital of the province of the same name. It has an installed capacity of 90 MW and is connected to the Argentine Interconnected System (SADI).
Grupo Albanesi acquired the plant in 2010, when it was out of service.
In a first stage the 3 existing turbines were repaired: one John Brown unit with 14 MW of generation capacity and two Fiat units with 13 MW each, reaching 40 MW of nominal capacity.
In 2016 construction began on a new 50 MW Siemens turbine, which started commercial operation in May 2017, bringing the plant's total installed capacity to the current 90 MW.
