Central Térmica Independencia
San Miguel de Tucumán · 220 MW installed
The Independencia Thermal Power Plant is located in the city of San Miguel de Tucumán, province of Tucumán. It has an installed capacity of 200 MW and is connected to the Argentine Interconnected System (SADI) through a transformer substation owned by TransNoa S.A., located within the plant site.
Grupo Albanesi acquired the Independencia plant in 2009, when it was out of service.
During 2011 the works required to install 120 MW of new Pratt & Whitney Power Co. capacity were carried out. In November of that year the company obtained authorization for the commercial operation of the new turbines.
Continuing its expansion, in 2016 work began on the installation of two Siemens SGT-800 turbines of 50 MW nominal capacity each. The first began operating in August 2017 and the second in February 2018, bringing the plant's total installed capacity to the current 220 MW.
