Solalban Energía
Bahía Blanca, Buenos Aires · 120 MW installed
Solalban Energía S.A., a company formed by Unipar Indupa S.A. (formerly Solvay Indupa S.A.) and Albanesi S.A., was established in March 2008 to operate the thermal power plant located in the Bahía Blanca Petrochemical Complex, province of Buenos Aires. It has an open-cycle generation capacity of 120 MW.
The open-cycle plant has two Pratt & Whitney Power Systems Inc. SwiftPac60 turbo-generator sets. Each unit generates 60 MW and consists of two gas turbines that transmit their power to a single generator.
The plant has a dual role: on the one hand, it self-generates the energy consumed by Unipar Indupa through a dedicated line that does not use the national grid; on the other, the rest of the energy generated is sold in the Energía Plus market and injected into the SADI (Argentine Interconnected System).
